Leadership theory struggles to keep pace with global complexity and organizations are challenged to embrace and employ the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) now vital to organizational project success. Many leaders do not know where to begin.

This seminar offers an overview of  the key objectives and competencies of Leadership for Sustainability (LFS) using 2021 research conducted in a Swedish sustainable housing project as a case study. Exploring the current thinking and pedagogy in leadership for sustainability, U.S. leadership scholar Megan Penhoet shares key LFS concepts in Nordic higher education and outlines through the use of evidence-based research the “DNA” of sustainability-oriented projects.
